I am in LOVE with your fiesta wedding cake. My grandpa is turning 80 and I want to do something amazing for him and this is perfect. He’s from a small ranch in Mexico and I think this is beautiful and will remind him of home. I’m a beginner in cake making, I’ve made a few simple cakes here and there but I was wondering if you have any tips on how to make it or anything. It would be my first time making something this big and I don’t want to mess up. If you could email me a few small tips that would be great!! 🙂 thank you so much
Hi Stacy,
You are in luck because the directions on how to decorate that fiesta wedding cake are all in my modeling chocolate book and there is an ebook version of that too in case that is preferable >>http://www.wickedgoodies.net/cake-decorating-with-modeling-chocolate/
There are also all kinds of tips on this website about how to build larger cakes, so give the tutorial section a look. Good luck and I would love to see how this cake for your grandpa turns out! – Kristen
you guys are wonderful and creative. i love evry bit of it. well done
I have only worked with a remade modeling chocolate Once…really feel less scared with your video and website! Thank you so much for all the encouragement you do for us out here who really need a boost!
You are so welcome! I love to give other bakers a leg up 🙂
Wow! Your designs are incredible! Any chance of a book signing on Long Island, NY? And could I trouble you for the recipe? Thank you!
Thanks! I am not going on the road but I am trying to make signed books available soon. Which recipe were you looking for?
Those cakes are amazing! I like baking and designing cake myself, but you guys are truly amazing and inspirational.
Your cakes are amazing. I mean amazing. I have a cake business and working on perfecting my fondant. I just cant get it as smooth as I see other other cakes. Great work.
Wow thanks for the compliment! Fondant has a tendency to be lumpy, even when done right, so don’t sweat it. The truth is that we all get some lumps/dents on our cakes. The key is to turn the mistakes to the back or cover them up strategically with a flower or decoration 🙂
I just wanted to comment on your work which is extraordinary! I ordered your book and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. Thanks for sharing your talents!
🙂 Thank you for your kind words and for buying my book 🙂
Sheer artistic genius!!!
My 6 yr old grandson requested a snake cake. I am considering a modeling chocolate snake on rec cake covered with crumbled chocolate cookies and green “grass”, but decorating the snake is intimidating. Loved yours. Any suggestions on the “how to”?
Thank you,
Leslie
Thanks! Here’s a great video from Terry’s Bake Shop on how to make a snake cake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldnWxdZRT5I Good luck!
Fantastic. Inspirational. So much better than anything I have seen on TV!
