I made this 3D sculpted booty cake with camouflage boy shorts for a 24th birthday celebration. Here’s how I did it.
How to Form Butt Cheeks for a Booty Cake
Baked and prepare the cakes using the following method
Half Sphere Cake Tutorial
Once the cakes are baked, filled and chilled, slice approximately 15 percent off one side of each half-sphere. Then sandwich them together at the seam (see graphic above). Re-incorporate the trimmed cake parts over the seam on one side to form a small lower back.
Frosting the Booty Cake with Buttercream
Here are my Smooth Buttercream Frosting Recipes
Camouflage Modeling Chocolate Boy Shorts Underwear
To make the camouflage patterned underwear, I used the inlay effect, which creates a seamless look. More info on how to do this is covered in my book, Cake Decorating with Modeling Chocolate.
Chocolate Stitched Modeling Chocolate Number Patch
To make the number patch, again I used the inlay effect from the book Cake Decorating with Modeling Chocolate. Once that stage was complete, with a tiny ball tool, I pressed shallow holes into the surface of the patch, following the shape of its periphery. Then I pressed the same amount of holes in the surface of the underwear surrounding the patch.
Using melted chocolate in a parchment paper piping cone, I piped a stitched ‘X’ pattern using the holes as guides. Follow this link to watch my video tutorial and learn more about how to pipe with melted chocolate.
Happy Birthday Cake Writing Inscription
Lastly, I added a piped Happy Birthday inscription. Follow this link to learn more about how to write inscriptions on cakes with melted chocolate.
Who Pinched My Booty Cake?
Renee from Main Made Custom Cakes pinched my booty cake! In this photo, she’s holding a copy of my book, Cake Decorating with Modeling Chocolate, inside of which are more detailed instructions on how to decorate this cake including the story of how it was sold.
