American Buttercream Basics
Here are my instructions on how to make American style buttercream, which works perfectly for frosting wedding cakes, sculpted cakes, or any type of special occasion cake. The basic ingredients are butter, sugar, milk, and vanilla. A turn through the food processor eliminates any trace of lumps, making ultra-fine finishes (with no drag marks) possible and detailed piping (with no clogged tips) easier to achieve. This smooth buttercream frosting is easy to make at home in small batches.
