Check out this amazing gingerbread cookie birdhouse made by Jamie Moon of Love Blossoms Cakery. This piece was awarded runner up in Cake Central’s Gingerbread Birdhouse Inspiration Challenge. The 3D cardinal figurine was made of modeling chocolate.
Jamie made a gingerbread pine cone and gingerbread pine needles. The pine cone was made using this pine cone mold by Jennifer Dontz along with the helpful guidance of cake artist, Jeanne Winslow.
Here is a closeup of her royal icing brush piping.
Her ruffles and trim are beautifully executed examples of the overlay and embossing techniques that are covered in my book.
Awesome work, Jamie! Thank you for sharing the results of your adventures with this gingerbread house dough recipe and congrats on the success of your very first gingerbread house!
