This Mexican themed, 3-tier round wedding cake was decorated with modeling chocolate carnations and a piped buttercream frosting cascading dot design in multi colors. Written instructions on how to create this design are in the book, Cake Decorating with Modeling Chocolate. VIDEO instructions on how to pipe the cascading dot design are in the ebook, Smooth Buttercream Cake Frosting.

Beautiful cake. I was wondering what the height of the tiers on this cake are? And how many layers do you normally have per tier?
The cover pic on Smooth Buttercream Cake Frosting looks like they are pretty tall
Thanks
Thank you. The height of that middle tier (that tier was styro) was almost exactly 4″ tall. The bottom and top tiers were real cake and they were closer to 4.5″ tall.
At this height, I prefer to include 2-3 filling layers per tier. It all depends on how thinly I manage to slice the cake. I always prefer many thin layers over fewer thick ones.
Could you please tell me how many inches each cake tier is. You did a great job…
They were 6″ – 8″ – 10″ diameter tiers.
